Step 1: Looking for student houses in Leeds? 

View our student house shares and flats on our website, and on Facebook too. Alternatively, you can register with us and we will then keep you updated and let you know when a property becomes available. You can message us online or call our office on 0113 274 6642 to discuss your requirements or to request a brochure.

Step 2: Seen some student accommodation in Leeds that you like? 

The next step is to contact us to arrange a viewing of your chosen property. For your viewing appointment, you can meet us at the property, or come to the office and we will transport you to the property from there.

You can generally view four student properties in Leeds in an hour-long slot, so we will do our best to show you a selection of houses at once to save you the stress and hassle of booking multiple viewings.

Step 3: Found your ideal student houseshare in Leeds? 

Contact us to let us know which property you want to rent and whether you want ‘unlimited bills inclusive’ or ‘bills exclusive of rent’.

If you feel out of your depth regarding tenancy contracts you can always take away a copy of the contract first for checking by the friendly team at LUU Leeds University Union. We can reserve the property of your choice for 24 hours. 

This 'How to rent' guide issued by the government is also a useful tool if you are not sure what questions to ask when going through the property rental process.

When you are happy and confident to proceed, simply make an appointment to come to the Pickard Properties office, and sign for your new home. The signing appointment will take an hour (maximum). We’ll explain how we work, go through all the terms and conditions, and give you time to answer any questions you may have about student letting in Leeds with us.

For the signing appointment, you’ll need to bring the following items with you:

  • Your student ID card 
  • Your deposit payment of £260

Please note: We do not charge sign-up fees for student tenants.

If you are an international student, you will need to bring your passport with you too, alongside a letter stating the details of your university offer. Our international students page has loads more useful information for you.

Once you’ve signed and paid, the property is secured for you. 

Please note: You can only sign for your property if there are at least half of the proposed tenants at the signing appointment.

Step 4: Before you move in

Pickard Properties aims to make renting a student property in Leeds a smooth, easy and stress-free process. We’re continually looking for new ways to remove the stresses that are normally associated with moving house. Leeds is a great place to live and we want you to enjoy living here.

So, remember to complete this checklist before you move in:

  • Complete the ‘Direct Debit Mandate’ 
  • Pay the first instalment of rent
  • Ensure you and your housemates have signed all the tenancy documentation 

If you or any of your housemates have forgotten to do any of the above, then we are unable to hand out keys, so please check with everyone before you trek to the office to pick up keys!

Step 5: Welcome to your new home

If all of the above is done, you can now look forward to moving in! Please follow these steps to make your move as easy as possible: 

  • Key collection: Please check our office opening hours and pop into the office to pick up your keys. If your tenancy starts on a weekend, contact us to arrange a time slot, as the office is generally closed over the weekend.
  • Don’t forget to bring your photographic ID (driving licence preferred).
  • All maintenance reports must be emailed to: maintenance@pickardproperties.co.uk  or you can complete our maintenance form.
