Out-of-Hours NHS Services

Most GP practices provide an out-of-hours service of some sort, which you will be redirected to when you call the normal practice number outside of the usual hours.

If that’s not the case with your GP practice, try one of the relevant options below:

Out of Hours Service — Leeds City Medical Practice
Leeds City Medical Practice offers an out-of-hours service for outside of normal surgery hours. Just call the surgery on 0113 467 7500 and you will be redirected to the out-of-hours service. This service is for non-emergencies only.

Lexicon House – Urgent Care
Local Care Direct provides an out-of-hours service at Lexicon House for when your usual GP practice has closed. This is for urgent but not emergency care and can be accessed via the 111 service (see below).

Barrack Street

Opening Times: Monday – Friday 18:00-09:00, Saturday/Sunday & Bank Holidays 24 hours.

Emergency Services

999 – The main emergency number

If you find yourself in an emergency situation, this is the number you should call. 999 puts you through to the switchboard for all the emergency services including police, ambulance, fire brigade, mountain rescue, cliff rescue, cave rescue, and coastguard.

Please only call this number in a genuine emergency, when life is at risk or a crime is in progress.

Non-Emergency Services

101 – The non-emergency number for the police

Call this number when you need to get in touch with the police but it’s not an emergency. For example, when a crime has occurred, but a quick response won’t be helpful. If you’d prefer to visit or contact your local Police Station, you’ll find it here:

Weetwood Police Station, 300 Otley Road, Leeds LS16 6RG. Phone: 0113 241 2459

111 – The non-emergency medical number

Call this number when you’d like some medical advice but aren’t sure which service to use — they will assess your situation and direct you to the best service.
